Morenci Area High School

Principal - Mr. Nate Parker

High School Principal   -   parker@morenci.k12.mi.us

At Morenci High School we invite students to accept the challenge of a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for the transition to college or the working world. In addition to Advanced Placement offerings, students can look forward to high expectations in the areas of academic achievement, and character. Morenci High school offers numerous clubs and extracurricular activities. Our thriving Volunteer Club has been recognized nationally and the Equations Team has taken first place at the last two Equations County Tournaments. Morenci High School's Gecko club has also been recognized for their contributions to environmental preservation in the city.  The 2009 "Revista" Yearbook has been nominated for a national award. At Morenci High school we have the highest academic expectations in the county and through the "Character Counts" program we encourage students to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.

Teamwork between parents and the school is essential. We share a common goal in wishing to see each student reach their full potential and only through cooperation between parents and teachers can we be sure of reaching this goal. Parents can track their student’s progress through the Home Access Center on the school’s Web Page.

Classes at the High School are conducted on a trimester schedule.  Students will have three twelve week terms and will have five seventy-four minute classes per day.  The Trimester schedule allows for a more flexible schedule which will allow us to best prepare students for the new Michigan Merit Exam.  Furthermore, this schedule will provide students with elective choices while meeting the new statewide graduation requirements.

It is our belief that students can only gain self-esteem and truly prepare themselves to thrive in the college or work atmosphere by accepting and overcoming challenges. We encourage students to challenge themselves throughout their high school career and reap the rewards that a rigorous and stimulating high school experience can provide.
