My name is Gail J. Frey. I was raised on a farm in the Chelsea/Manchester area with my parents and five siblings. I graduated from Chelsea High School and had my two children by the age of 20. I attended Eastern Michigan University and received my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education with three minors: English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Sciences. My career began at Grass Lake Community Schools in September 1997. I taught 4th grade and then 1st grade. Two years later I helped develop the multi-age program for Kindergarten/first grade and later taught a First grade/second grade multi-age and third grade.
During this time I received my Masters in Education (MAE) from Spring Arbor University. I taught Early Childhood Education Classes at Jackson College from 2003-2006. In 2008 I was asked to help develop the Response to Intervention program for the Grass Lake School district. I completed two years of intensive instruction under the direction of Bob Sornson, CEO of the Early Learning Foundation, and was trained in all academic as well as visual, auditory, and behavior interventions. Once I completed my training, I realized that to fulfill my dream of supporting teachers and children to their greatest capacity, I needed to get a Master’s degree in Administrative Leadership. I began that journey in September of 2012 and will complete that degree in April 2014.
I live with my husband, Brad, in Osseo, Michigan. We have every intention of making Morenci our home in the spring of 2014.
I am honored to have been selected as the new Morenci elementary school principal. I look forward to meeting the community members who have entrusted the education of their children to my leadership.
